We will also welcome featured speaker Laverne Cox, an Emmy-nominated actress, documentary film producer, and prominent equal rights advocate.
Flights & Rights is our monthly community series in the KEXP Studios Gathering Space! In October, Legal director, Emily Chiang, will discuss the state of civil liberties a year since the election, and the five Supreme Court cases the ACLU will argue this session.
We did not learn this history in school. Robinson will discuss how Confederate monuments came to adorn our country and what it means that they still stand today. We MUST face the truth of our history to chart a course forward.
The ACLU is proud to sponsoring and tabling at Trans Pride Seattle 2017, an annual event organized by Gender Justice League that aims to increase the strength of the trans and gender diverse communities. The march assembles at 5pm by the Capitol Hill Light Rail Station and will be followed by a celebration at Cal Anderson Park featuring many performances and speakers. Please join us in celebrating trans visibility, solidarity and love.
The ACLU of Washington has endorsed the Annual May Day March for Workers and Immigrant Rights organized by the May 1st Action Coalition and El Comité and will be joining the march in solidarity with our local immigrant communities.
